Man who helped family with home installation returned to their house several days later wearing a mask, only to hit little girl in the head, causing her to lose consciousness, before he tried to abduct the child; charged

Denver, CO – According to the police officials, the 56-year-old man, later identified as Tomas, was arrested and later charged with multiple charges, including burglary, attempted kidnapping, assault and child abuse after he reportedly broke in into family’s home earlier this month only to try and abduct a little girl. Luckily, the child, 8, was able to fight off her attacker and run to her parent’s room to tell her what happened.

The investigation process began after the victim’s mom called 911 and told the dispatcher that someone was trying to abduct her child. The responding officers discovered that the child was blindfolded before she was hit on her head and became unconscious. Shortly after, when she regained consciousness, she was able to fight off the attacker and go the her mom’s bedroom.

The child suffered injuries and treated by doctors for cuts and bruises. Police officials said the little girl didn’t sustain any major injuries. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the suspect, who probably came and went through the back door, was wearing a cIown mask during the assault. The mask and gloves were left in the child’s room, police officials said.

During the investigation process, authorities found significant amount of evidence leading them to the 56-year-old man. The victim’s mom told investigators the man reportedly helped them install appliances at the family home several days before the incident. The 56-year-old man lived in the neighborhood and was at the girl’s home two days before to the attempted abduction to help install a washer and dryer, police officials said.
