SPD makes multiple arrests tied to firearms and narcotics offenses, highlighting commitment to curbing illegal activity in the community

Shreveport, LA – According to the police officials, the first arrest occurred around 5:45 p.m. when officers conducted a traffic stop on the 3800 block of Hollywood Avenue. During the stop, they found 29-year-old Vernon Wynn in possession of substantial quantities of narcotics, including 51 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 74 suspected ecstasy pills, as well as cocaine and hydrocodone pills. Officers also discovered Wynn was carrying a handgun. He was subsequently arrested and charged with three narcotics violations and illegal possession of a firearm in the presence of narcotics.

Later that evening, another traffic stop at Hollywood Avenue and Broadmoor Avenue led to the arrest of 48-year-old Derek Walton. Walton was found with a firearm that had an obliterated serial number. Upon further investigation, officers discovered that Walton is a convicted felon, prohibited from possessing firearms. He was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

In the early hours of November 8, just after 2:00 a.m., proactive patrol officers conducted a third traffic stop at Doris Avenue and Jewell Avenue. There, they encountered 30-year-old Chadrick Hudson, who was in possession of narcotics and a handgun. Officers confirmed that Hudson is also a convicted felon, prohibited from possessing firearms, and he had outstanding warrants in other jurisdictions. Hudson was arrested on charges of narcotics possession, illegal possession of a firearm by a felon, along with the outstanding warrants.

These arrests reflect the Shreveport Police Department’s ongoing commitment to reducing violent crime through proactive measures aimed at removing illegal firearms from the hands of individuals legally prohibited from possessing them. The SPD intends to maintain its focused efforts to enhance neighborhood safety across Shreveport.
