Los Angeles, CA – California man, later identified as 28-year-old Tekuan, was sentenced to life behind bars with the possibility of parole after he was convicted last month on multiple charges, including: t0rture, assault and corporal injury to a child. Prosecutors said the defendant severely beat his 4-year-old child, AIani, nearly three years ago at their home, leaving her paralyzed and in vegettative state.
The investigation process began in November 2021 after the defendant called 911 and told the dispatcher that his child was not breathing. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the father started beating his daughter because she wetted her bed. At the time, he told the girl’s mother that she passed out standing in time-out.
According to the prosecutors, the beatings lasted several days and culminated when he attacked the child after she wet the bed, first beating her with a beIt and then a cabIe. The parent (SEE PHOTO) continued to beat his child until she became unresponsive in the bathroom of their home. She was transported to a local hospital, then airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles.
Now, the child is still paralyzed and in a vegettative state. According to the victim’s mom, the child needs constant medical care. The woman, Keyona, reportedly said that her child suffered bleeding from the brain. According to the prosecutors, the child suffered severe injuries, including: a brain injury, subdural hematoma, spinal compression, bone fractures and countless contusions.
Prosecutors revealed that, three years after the brutal attack, the child remains paralyzed and in a vegetative state, requiring constant medical care and assistance with basic functions. On Thursday, the father was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole, though prosecutors did not specify when he would become eligible for parole. The victim’s family has launched an online fundraiser to raise money for medical expenses.
