Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has updated its litter cleanup initiative with an additional $3 million in funding from the Louisiana Legislature.
This funding will support efforts to improve the cleanliness and visual appeal of major federal highways across the state.
The initiative launched last week in the New Orleans area, where crews have already collected over 625 cubic yards of litter.
Along with litter removal, crews are repairing damaged fencing, replacing signage, and removing graffiti along state roadways.
In the coming months, efforts will target major interstates, including I-10, I-12, I-20, I-110, and I-610. For fiscal year 2024, DOTD committed approximately $13.6 million to litter pickup, a key investment in maintaining clean and safe roadways.
DOTD also encourages residents to participate in local cleanup efforts and properly dispose of waste to help keep Louisiana litter-free.
