Pennsylvania – A Pennsylvania parent is behind bars and later charged with multiple charges, including aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child after he left his child seriously injured and is now at the hospital in critical condition. According to the 30-year-old man, E. BaiIey, he rushed the 1-month-old to the hospital after he realized that the baby began having seizures. The man then called the baby’s mother and together they took the baby to the hospital.
The investigation process began on Wednesday after the hospital staff called 911 and notified the authorities about the baby’s injuries. The hospital staff told investigators that the newborn is in critical condition after suffering life-threatening injuries which also involved a blunt force trauma to the head.
During the investigation process, authorities in Pennsylvania discovered that the baby’s dad was angry at his baby because the child wouldn’t stop crying. According to the man, he gently dropped the baby on the bed. The baby continued to cry, which made the parent even more angry, WFMZ reported.
During an interview with investigators, he picked up the child and was walking quickly down the stairs before he fell, carrying the child. According to him, he fell down three steps with the child in his arms. The child was put to bed after this incident.
The man and the newborn’s mother contacted the hospital after they saw the child was having seizure-like activity consistent with a brain injury. The man also told investigators that he realized his baby had twitching in her one hand and also saw her having full seizures. He told police he was scared and called the child’s mother and told her to come home.
According to him, while he was not able to stop the child from crying, he grabbed the 1-month-old from her bed to take her downstairs. He said that he was still upset and while speed walking down the steps he lost his footing. The 30-year-old dad is being held on $100,000 cash percentage bail.
