Huntsville, AL – According to the court documents, the 30-year-old mom, later identified as Samanta, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for her role in the death of her 1-year-old baby, Emzo. Prosecutors said the 30-year-old parent pleaded guilty to murder in the course of chiId abuse for her role in the 2019 death of her son. According to the court documents, the mother reportedly left her child in the care of someone she knows to have been abusive to the child.
Prosecutors claim that the mother’s 1-year-old baby was beaten to death by her 32-year-old boyfriend, Robbert. Teh 32-year-old defendant is already sentenced to life in prison without the possibility for parole after he was found guilty of capitaI murder of a person less than 14 years of age and chiId abuse. Prosecutors said the mother’s boyfriend also beat her other son regularly.
The investigation process began in September 2019 when officers responded to the nearby store after the mom’s family member called 911 and told the dispatcher about a 1-year-old child not breathing. The responding officers discovered that the child was in critical condition and had no brain activity. The boy was pronounced dead shortly after. During an interview with investigators, the baby’s mom reportedly said that she was with her children home when she saw her baby choking on a food. Later, during the day, she took him to the ER.
The 30-year-old mom also told investigators that on her way to the hospital, she stopped by to buy cigaretes. During an interview with investigators, the mom’s boyfriend reportedly said that he was holding the baby when the child pulled a hair on his chest, which caused him to drop the baby. But, the medical examiner told investigators that the child suffered injuries which were caused from being violently shaken. The mother’s boyfriend even sent the boy’s mom a message, which stated that the child wasn’t breathing and was Iimp.
