Shreveport, LA – According to the officials, this marks a significant achievement for the department.

The accreditation was awarded on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, during the NRPA Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

CAPRA accreditation is the only national standard for park and recreation agencies, measuring the quality of an agency’s operations, management, and service to its community.

This distinction signifies that Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation has met rigorous standards related to the administration of lands, facilities, programs, safety, and services.

Out of approximately 10,000 park agencies nationwide, Caddo Parish is now one of just 214 accredited agencies.

The accreditation process involves a formal application, self-assessment, a site visit by a team of trained volunteers, and a final hearing with the CAPRA commission.
