Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office investigates skydiving incident in the Gilliam area

Shreveport, LA – The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a missing skydiver in the Gilliam area on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 1:25 PM.

Authorities were notified by Gilliam Airport that a skydiver’s parachute had failed to deploy during a jump. The individual, described as an Asian male, was wearing an orange wingsuit at the time of the incident.

A search effort was quickly launched, involving multiple agencies, including the Caddo Sheriff’s Office, Life Air Rescue, North Caddo Medical Center, the Wildlife and Fisheries Department, and the Caddo Fire District.

At approximately 3:20 PM, the missing skydiver was found deceased about two miles from the intended landing location.

The Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the incident.
