New Jersey – A New Jersey woman was taken into custody on charges of chiId abuse after allegedly forcing her child to wear an eIectric pet shhock coIIar. The investigation began when the child arrived at school with visible marks on their body, prompting school officials to notify authorities. The DA’s attorney, in collaboration with the local police department, launched an investigation into the reported injuries.

Investigators determined that the marks were caused by an eIectric shck coIIar designed for pets, which the 30-year-old parent, later identified as KimberIy, had allegedly repurposed to discipline her child. The collar had belonged to the family’s deceased pet and was reportedly kept charged and stored in a bedroom alongside other items belonging to the dog. Per reports, these collars are designed to dole out eIectrical charges as high as 100-volts.

Authorities allege that the parent forced the child, who identity has not been released, to wear the shck coIIar at all times while at home, using it as a form of punishment whenever the child upset her. The child disclosed that the collar was kept in a bedroom with other belongings of the deceased animal and was regularly charged even after the pet’s death.

The woman was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including two counts of second-degree aggravated assault, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, one count of first-degree witness tampering with threat of force, and one count of third-degree hindering. She is currently being held at the county correctional center awaiting court proceedings.

In addition to the charges against the parent, her mother, 59-year-old Sonya, was arrested and charged with fourth-degree tampering with evidence and hindering apprehension. Authorities allege that she assisted in disposing of the eIetric coIIar to interfere with the investigation. She was released pending a court appearance.

According to reports, the mother admitted to the abuse and stated that she used the coIIar on her child when the child did not listen. She also allegedly threatened the child with further violence if they disclosed the abuse to others.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the New Jersey community, with residents expressing outrage and concern over the allegations. Prosecutor Jefrey emphasized the seriousness of the charges, stating, “We take all allegations of child abuse with the utmost seriousness, and we will continue to ensure that those responsible for such heinous acts are held fully accountable under the law.”

As the legal proceedings move forward, the community remains vigilant, hoping for justice and the well-being of the child involved.
