Louisville, KY – According to the police officials, the 3-year-old child’s diet reportedly consisted of a gaIIon of milk a day through a bottle without any soIid food. Her parents, later identified as 32-year-old Coddy, and 32-year-old Jaida, are charged with first-degree criminal child abuse. Police officials claim the child’s mom and dad reportedly refused to feed their daughter soIid foods, which eventually led to malnourishment and severe tooth decay.
According to reports, the investigation process began last month after the parents brought the child to a hospital. Doctors then realized that the child was not feeling alright and immediately sent the child to a pediatrician. The next doctor then transferred the child to the ER.
Hospital staff at the ER discovered that the child had a rapid heart rate. The 3-year-old girl, who was not identified due to her age, also looked chronically ill and malnourished. The doctors also told authorities that they gave the child bIood transfusion and that she needed to see a dentist because she was suffering from a severe tooth decay.
During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the child only drank a gallon of milk a day through a bottle without any soIid food. The doctors also told authorities that the level of pain associated with trying to eat with her teeth would be unbearable. Per reports, the parents reportedly ignored instructions on several occasions to take the child to a doctor. The child is now in custody of social services, police officials say. This incident remains under investigation.
