Shreveport, LA –
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited five individuals on January 27 for alleged Wildlife Management Area (WMA) violations in Caddo Parish.
Cited:
- Ryan Collier, 24, of Shreveport – Operating an ATV off designated WMA trails, possessing a centerfire rifle on John Franks WMA, operating a vehicle off designated roads, spotlighting on a WMA, hunting hogs and nutria during illegal hours, failing to obtain a WMA self-clearing permit.
- Landon Lee, 21, of Shreveport – Using a WMA without an access permit, failing to obtain a self-clearing permit, spotlighting on a WMA.
- Anthony Maust, 25, of Bossier – Using a WMA without an access permit, failing to obtain a self-clearing permit, spotlighting on a WMA.
- Aaron Carroll, 22, of Shreveport – Using a WMA without an access permit, failing to obtain a self-clearing permit, spotlighting on a WMA.
- Nora Flores, 20, of Shreveport – Using a WMA without an access permit, failing to obtain a self-clearing permit.
Agents launched an investigation after trail cameras captured an ATV and an SUV operating in unauthorized areas of John Franks WMA. On January 27, a Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy alerted agents to a vehicle actively spotlighting in the area. Authorities stopped the vehicle and identified three occupants—Collier, Lee, and Flores.
During interviews, Collier and Lee admitted to repeatedly driving through the WMA in an ATV and SUV while spotlighting and hunting at night. Collier confessed to harvesting a nutria and a hog. Agents later contacted Maust and Carroll, who also admitted to riding through the WMA at night while spotlighting for game.
Each WMA violation carries a fine of up to $350 per offense.
