Gov. Landry announced the appointment of three individuals to key state boards, including the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors, the Board of Regents, and the State Police Commission

Shreveport, LA – According to the state officials, Robert Salim was appointed to the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors, while Khader Samer F. Shamieh, MD, will serve on the Board of Regents. Additionally, retired Lieutenant General James M. “Jim” Kowalski, USAF, was appointed to the State Police Commission.

Governor Landry praised the appointees, stating, “Skeeter, Samer, and Jim provide a unique background and skillset that will be incredibly useful to each of the boards they will serve. I’m looking forward to the leadership they will provide as we continue our mission to reform our education system and make our communities safer for all.”

Skeeter Salim expressed his gratitude for the appointment, saying, “I am honored by Governor Landry’s confidence in me to serve on the Board of Supervisors for the UL System. Louisiana has the opportunity to turn our state around, and that starts with transforming our education system. I am thankful for this opportunity and am eager to get to work with the rest of the board.”

The appointments reflect Governor Landry’s ongoing efforts to shape the leadership of important state institutions aimed at improving education and public safety.
