Shreveport – Governor Jeff Landry addressed his annual budget plan, emphasizing the goal of flat funding for this fiscal year compared to the previous year, continuing the trend of decreasing overall government spending.
The budget, set to be presented on Thursday, highlighted the following changes in Total State Funds (including State General Fund, Fees and Self-Generated Revenues, and Statutory Dedications):
– A decrease of $1 billion in total state funds, including carryforwards.
– A decrease of over $400 million in total state funds, excluding carryforwards.
Federal funds increased due to efficiencies in the RESTORE program, reflecting ongoing efforts to improve state government operations.
