Shreveport, LA – Shreveport Police Department officers, in partnership with K-9 Karo and the Real-Time Crime Center, successfully apprehended five juvenile suspects following a stolen vehicle recovery operation.
At approximately 1:27 PM, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Haynes and Bermuda regarding a stolen silver Kia Rio being followed by the owner. The complainant also reported that the Kia Rio was accompanied by a burgundy Kia sedan, both occupied by young Black males.
Officers intercepted the vehicles as they exited the Stone Vista Apartments at 541 E Stoner Avenue. Upon approach, five individuals fled on foot into the apartment complex. Thanks to the quick actions of SPD patrol officers, two individuals were detained shortly after fleeing the vehicles. Both stolen vehicles were recovered at the scene.
K-9 Karo was instrumental in locating a 16-year-old suspect, identified as the driver of the stolen Kia Rio, hiding in a shed between Easy Street and Martha Avenue. The suspect sustained minor injuries during apprehension and was treated on-site by Shreveport Fire Department medics before being taken into custody.
The RTCC provided crucial assistance by reviewing surveillance footage, which revealed that the remaining suspects had entered Building 22 within the complex and had not exited. Officers observed two individuals matching the suspects’ descriptions and successfully detained them. Additionally, two more suspects were found hiding in a bedroom of the residence and were also taken into custody.
In total, seven individuals were detained, with five juvenile suspects ultimately arrested. All five juveniles face charges of:
• 1 count of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things (IPST)
• 1 count of Resisting an Officer
