Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has launched a $6.7 million project to improve a section of LA 133 west of Rayville in Richland Parish.
The project spans over 8 miles, from US 80 in Start to LA 15 on LA 133, and involves full-depth patching, milling to remove old asphalt, and applying new asphalt layers.
The contractor has completed the full-depth patching phase and replaced a cross drain to ensure proper drainage. Full-depth patching strengthens the road by addressing damaged portions all the way to the base, extending the road’s service life.
The next step in the project is milling off the old asphalt layers to prepare for the new surface. Intermittent lane closures may occur to allow safe construction activities.
This project, which serves about 2,000 drivers per day, aims to enhance the travel experience. It is expected to be completed by Fall 2025, with progress contingent on weather and other factors.
