Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has announced the closure of Muddy Bayou Road at North Fork on the Dewey W. Wills Wildlife Management Area (WMA) due to road damage.
The section of the road beyond the closure will remain open for vehicular traffic. Once repairs are completed, the closed portion of the road will be reopened.
Dewey W. Wills WMA is situated in the southern part of LaSalle and Catahoula parishes, approximately 20 miles northeast of Alexandria, Louisiana. The area offers a variety of game species, including deer, squirrel, rabbit, raccoon, turkey, waterfowl, and woodcock. It also features a general turkey lottery hunt, a youth deer season, and a small game emphasis area.
In addition to hunting, the WMA provides excellent fishing opportunities, with species such as largemouth bass, white bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill, and other sunfish commonly found in the area.
