Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Enforcement Division has extended the application period for its 37th Cadet Academy until February 9.
The department aims to hire up to 30 cadets for training set to begin in late spring or early summer of 2025.
Initially, this academy was intended for candidates already certified under Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST).
However, due to a high volume of applications during the initial window, the LDWF Enforcement Division has opened the application process to all qualified individuals, including those without POST certification.
Applicants can find the job listing for “Wildlife Enforcement Cadet” on the Louisiana Civil Service website.
Minimum qualifications include law enforcement experience, an associate’s degree, or three years of continuous active military service. Education credits may also substitute for experience requirements.
Cadets will train at the department’s Waddill Training and Emergency Response Complex in Baton Rouge, where they will undergo intensive physical and academic training.
The program prepares cadets to enforce the state’s boating, wildlife, and fisheries laws, along with general law enforcement duties on Louisiana’s wildlife management areas.
