Shreveport, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced the start of a $3.3 million construction project beginning Wednesday, January 8, 2025. The project will cover a 2.59-mile section of La. 31 from La. 182 to La. 742, as well as the adjacent section of La. 182 from La. 31 to E. Jefferson Street.

The scope of work includes grading, installing drainage structures, milling asphalt concrete, pavement patching and widening, applying a class II base course, adding roadway reinforcing mesh, and laying an asphalt concrete overlay, among other related improvements.

Construction schedules will vary depending on location:
– **La. 31 east of I-49:** Work will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.
– **La. 182 and La. 31 west of I-49:** Nighttime work is planned from Sunday through Thursday, 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m., weather permitting.

Drivers should anticipate intermittent lane closures and potential delays throughout the construction period. The road will remain open to regular traffic, with a 12-foot maximum lane restriction for oversized loads passing through the work zone. Emergency vehicles will have access but may also encounter delays.

The project is expected to be completed in the winter of 2025-2026, pending weather conditions.
