Detroit, MI – According to the court documents, the ex-boyfriend, later identified as Rashed, reportedly pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and other charges in the death of his ex-girlfriend’s daughter, Winter. Prosecutors claim the defendant, who is now facing mandatory life behind bars and will be sentenced next month, reportedly got into an argument with his ex which turned vioIent.
The investigation began after the girl’s mom called 911 and told the dispatcher that her ex-boyfriend reportedly stabbed her after she stabbed him in self-defence. The 27-year-old man then proceeded to se-ually assault the woman. The injured woman then left the apartment and left her 1-year-old baby and her 2-year-old daughter alone in the apartment.
The responding officers entered the apartment and found the 1-year-old baby, but not his older sibling. Shortly after, officers spotted the suspect in his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. He was arrested shortly after, but the 2-year-old child was not inside the vehicle. During an interview with investigators, the 27-year-old man reportedly said that he last saw the 2-year-old girl with her mom.
During the investigation process, authorities tracked the defendant’s phone and found the girl’s body. The medical examiner told investigators that the girl was strangled to death with a cable. During a follow-up interview with investigators, the 27-year-old defendant reportedly said that he got into an altercation with his ex-girlfriend which turned very vioIent.
