Columbus, OH – According to the police officials, the 29-year-old man, later identified as Devln, was arrested and later charged with murder after he reportedly killed his girIfriend’s 3-year-old child then told police that the child ‘was probably taken by a drug addict while he was taking a nap’, The fatal incident occurred last week at the suspect’s home, where the victim and her mom moved in recently.
The investigation process began after the 911 caller, later confirmed to be the 29-year-old suspect, told the dispatcher that his girIfriend’s 3-year-old child, who was not identified, was missing. The man also told the dispatcher that he ran around the neighborhood, looking for the child, but couldn’t find her. The 29-year-old man reportedly said that he was taking a nap when the child and his pet ‘disappeared’.
The man, who also told the dispatcher that he had mental health struggles and worked in multiple different places, later ‘claimed that the child must have been taken by some drug addict’. The responding officers searched the home and the area and found the child’s body in less than 30 minutes.
The medical examiner told investigators that the child suffered blunt force trauma to the head, but she died from stranguIation. The autopsy results also revealed that there were signs of se-ual assault, police officials said. County Prosecutor Kevin reportedly said the killing of a child younger than 14 is aggravated murder and is also a death penalty specification. The 29-year-old man is being held without bond, court records say.
