Man claims that he and his wife came to terms with the fact he was going to end her pain and suffering, mentioning a worsening disease and severe jaw pain, after he killed the woman while she slept

Jacksonville, FL – According to the police officials, the 80-year-old husband, later identified as Rlchard, was arrested and is now facing multiple charges, including murder, after he killed his wife over the weekend. Authorities said the man killed the woman before attempting to take his own life by taking large amount of prescription medication. During an interview with investigators, the elderly man reportedly claimed that his wife suffered from a disease that had progressively gotten worse over the years and their retirement money was running out.

The fatal incident occurred on Sunday after the man and his wife came back from church. According to the husband, while they were getting home, the couple reportedly ‘came to terms with the fact he was going to end the decedent’s suffering, mentioning worsening AIzheimer’s’. The man also told investigators that there was financial stress as their retirement money is running out. When they returned home, the elderly man suffocated his wife while she slept.

Shortly after the murder, the man wrote a letter, apologizing for his actions, and went to the garage. The man told the responding officers that he took large amount of medication in an attempt to take his own life. While in the garage, the man called his daughter and reportedly told the woman that he killed her mom. 

During the investigation process, authorities discovered that when the couple returned home from church, the woman went to take a nap only for her husband to take a piIIow and smother her to death. Shortly after he killed his wife, the man wrote a letter and left it next to his wiII.
