Atlanta, GA – According to the court documents, the 38-year-old defendant, CIedir, was sentenced to 8 years behind bars followed by 2 years probation for his role in his child’s death last year. Prosecutors claim the dad knew that his wife, NatieIa, was beating his child regularly, but didn’t do anything to protect the 8-year-old girl and left her alone with the stepmom, who ultimately beat her to death. Prosecutors said the defendant was sentenced after he was convicted of second-degree crueIty to children.
The fatal incident occurred in January after the parents called 911 to report that the child, Saira, was not responsive. The responding officers discovered that the girl was alone with her stepmom when she received the fatal injuries. First responders pronounced the child dead at the scene. The wife called her husband, who was a truck driver, to come home. When he arrived home, the 38-year-old man reportedly began administering CPR before calling the authorities.
During the investigation process, authorities reportedly discovered that the parent knew his spouse was beating his daughter regularly for more than 1 year, but still left the child with the woman, who ultimately beat her to death. The victim’s teacher told authorities that they reported the child’s injuries to authorities and when investigators contacted the father, he reportedly pulled the child from school and let the little girl be home-schooled.
During the trial, the defendant reportedly said that he never realized that his children were injured from spnking. His wife is charged with murder, chiId crueIty and other charges, and is awaiting trial. Prosecutors reportedly said that the mother grabbed a wooden stick and hit the child 2 dozen times in the head and neck.
