Kansas City, MO – Missouri dad, Tyller,  alongside his partner, later identified as 32-year-old Bailey, told authorities that he used a sanltized blade to perform a surgicaI procedure on his baby. The procedure, however, did not go as planned, leading to the couple being taken into custody and charged with child abuse and unauthorized practice of medicine or surgery in connection with the incident that occurred last week.

According to police officials, the investigation began after the parents brought their baby to the hospital with serious injuries. Responding officers discovered that the parents had left the child with hospital staff against medical advice after growing tired of waiting. During the investigation, authorities learned that the parents attempted to circumcise their infant son at their home, leaving the child bleeding profusely.

Officers then visited the couple’s home to conduct an interview. The 35-year-old father admitted to performing the procedure at home after doing research on it. Despite having no medical training, he proceeded with the surgery, saying a prayer beforehand. He also revealed that he used a sanitized blade, which authorities described as a utility tool, to perform the circumcision. To stop the bleeding, the parents applied gauze pads, but they were unprepared for the excessive blood loss. When they realized the child was bleeding heavily, they rushed him to the hospital for treatment.

During a subsequent interview, the child’s mother admitted to feeling hesitant about her husband’s decision to carry out the procedure, but ultimately helped him. She explained that she had concerns but went along with it. Following the incident, Child Protective Services (CPS) responded to the couple’s home and removed their five children from the residence. The parents are now facing charges and being held on a $25,000 bond. Their next court appearance is scheduled for January 28, 2025.

The case has raised questions about the dangers of unauthorized medical procedures performed without proper training and the devastating consequences that can result when individuals bypass professional care in favor of personal beliefs. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident to ensure the safety and well-being of the child and the rest of the family.
