Mom would only come home once a day to feed her children, 2 and 4, while leaving them alone for hours on end before she found her child dead on the floor; charged

Indiana – A Indiana woman was taken into custody and later charged with murder and child neglect causing death in connection with her 2-year-old child’s death last week. Authorities say the woman left her child and her two years older sibling all alone in her home for hours on end, only coming once a day to feed them. The defendant’s boyfriend, who was charged with assisting a criminal, said she spent each night at his home and almost never had the children with her. According to him, the children were with their mom once a week at most.

According to the court documents, the prosecutor’s office has indicted the 33-year-old mom, ChanteII, on charges of murder and neglect in connection with her daughter’s death. The investigation process began last week after the mother called 911 and told the dispatcher that her 2-year-old child, SkyIer, was not responsive. The woman told the responding officers that she found the child on the bedroom floor not breathing. 

The 33-year-old mom, who is being held without bond, told the responding officers that she returned home only to feed her children. Her 4-year-old son came to the woman, but her 2-year-old daughter didn’t. The woman then found the child lying on the floor unresponsive. During an interview with investigators, the mother reportedly fed her children once a day before leaving them alone in a home all to themselves.

First responders pronounced the child dead at the scene and told investigators that the child was deceased for some time. Authorities also said the child suffered bruises all over her body. The mother’s home was filled with trash, rotting food and human f-ces. 

During a follow-up interview with investigators, the woman reportedly admitted to leaving her children alone, without any supervision, for hours and only came back to the apartment once a day to give them food. The woman also told prosecutors that she would often find the victim and her sibling with f-ces on their hands. The woman also admitted to negIecting her children, but denied physically abusing them.
