Jacksonville, FL – The 35-year-old Florida woman, later identified as KeIsey, was taken into custody and later charged with multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery after she reportedly attacked and chased her housemate with a hammer after the unidentified witness attempted to stop the woman from kiIIing her child by hoIding her underwater until the girl drowned. Witnesses, which include another child and a housemate, allegedly told authorities after they arrived that the woman’s child was unresponsive in a bathroom.
According to the police officials, the 14-year-old girl did not survive, but authorities in Florida are still working to confirm the cause of death. Per reports, once an exact cause of death is determined, more charges could be added and the parent will likely be charged with first degree murder. The fatal attack reportedly occurred at the family’s home while another person and a child were inside the house. The fatal incident occurred on Wednesday, police officials said. The woman carried out the fatal attack in the bathroom. The unidentified witness tried to stop the mother from killing her 14-year-old child, GiseIIe, but was not successful.
The 35-year-old mom reportedly grabbed a hammer and attacked the unidentified witnesses with a hammer. The parent even chased the unidentified witnesses with a hammer before they called the authorities. The responding officers were able to remove the tool from the mother and take her into custody. “The mother put her daughter in the bathtub and grabbed her by the hair and held her head underwater,” and the hammer attack happened because the roommate tried to save the girl,” court filings says. The woman was taken into custody after police wrestled the tool from her hands and found her daughter, GiseIIe, unresponsive in the bathroom.
The mother’s housemate, whom she allegedly threatened to kill, told police she was attempting to assist with the defendant’s child when the situation turned violent. In a sworn statement, the housemate said the mother had stopped giving her child insulin, causing the teenager to become “ill,” with symptoms including vomiting, not eating, and feeling weak. Despite the housemate urging the mother to seek medical attention for the 14-year-old, the mother “refused” to do so. She also noted that the victim struggled to keep water down. During their argument, the housemate stated that the mother placed her daughter in the bathtub, grabbed her by the hair, and held her head under water. When the unidentified witness got the victim out and began lifesaving efforts, the victim’s mom tried to stop her and pushed her out.
The child was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the mother grabbed her child by the hair before putting her head under water until the child stopped breathing. The woman, who had no prior criminal history, was previously accused of battering the children’s father. It remains unclear why the parent held her child’s head underwater, causing her death. This incident remains under investigation.
