Denver, CO – According to the court documents, the 31-year-old mom, later identified as Ana, was sentenced to 40 years behind bars after she pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with her baby’s death. Prosecutors claim the mother killed her baby, MiIes, in June last year. After she killed her infant son, the mother drove around with the baby’s body for several hours before she was arrested and taken into custody.
The investigation process began in June last year after authorities responded to the defendant’s home when someone called 911 and told the woman was having a mental health crisis. The responding officers made contact with the witnesses, who told them that the mother took her baby and left.
During the investigation process, authorities reportedly discovered that the mother waited for her husband and the baby’s dad to go to the toiIet so she could sneak out of the home. The woman the drove to the location where she killed her baby. The woman reportedly told authorities that her put her baby in her lap and strangIed him, ‘because she didn’t want her child to suffer in life like she did’.
When officers found the mother and the baby, they rushed the child to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. During the proceedings, the mother explained to the court about what she experience in the weeks after giving birth to her baby. The woman reportedly told the court that she didn’t sleep and began having vioIent visual haIIucinations. The woman also explained that she pleaded guilty because she wanted to be sure that ‘she could no longer harm her husband. The woman also said that she is very sorry for taking the parenthood away from her husband.
