New York City, NY – According to the police officials, the 65-year-old woman, later identified as KatIeen, took her own life only after she shot her son’s ex-wife in the head, killing her. The victim, later identified as 45-year-old Marrisa, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police officials believe the fatal shooting occurred following a custody battle of a 4-year-old child that the shooter’s son shared with the victim. The responding officers reviewed surveillance video and discovered that the victim was placing her 1-year-old baby in her vehicle when the shooter approached her and shot her in the head.
Police later realized that the shooter, who was fighting a terminal diseases, approached the victim and shot her twice – once in the head and once in the back. The shooter then shot herself.
In a statement, police officials said that officers responded to at least 5 disturbance reports in the family. Per reports, a law-enforcement source told the Post: “She took away the child’s mother in order to make her son happy, it’s shocking.” The victim’s family launched a fundraiser to collect money for funeral expenses.
