Shreveport, LA – According to the CPSO officials, the camp took place at the Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy, where campers were paired with certified deputies for activities on the firing range, focusing on firearms handling and instruction.
The camp was established years ago to teach children about gun safety, especially those who have never handled a firearm before.
One of the main activities at the camp involved practicing and competing in target shooting using .22 caliber rifles.
After the competition, the campers enjoyed a special demonstration by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, Special Response Team, and Shreveport Fire Department’s Bomb Squad.
They also had a visit from Life Air Rescue, providing the children with a close-up look at the helicopter.
The event was a success, emphasizing the importance of firearm safety education in a fun and engaging way for the youth.
