Shreveport, LA – According to the LaDOTD officials, the project, which began on April 12, 2024, replaces the original bridge constructed in 1958 with a new three-span, 60-foot bridge to meet the increasing traffic demands and ensure the safety and reliability of this critical infrastructure.
The original 57-foot bridge had deteriorated significantly due to age and heavy traffic, necessitating its replacement. To expedite the project and minimize disruptions to the traveling public, DOTD’s Bridge Maintenance Section led the construction of the new bridge.
In addition to building the new structure, DOTD managed several essential tasks, including clearing the right of way, relocating utilities, constructing a detour road, and laying new asphaltic concrete to integrate the new bridge seamlessly with the existing roadway.
The total cost of the project was $430,000. The completion of this project marks a significant improvement in the region’s infrastructure, enhancing safety and accommodating the growing traffic needs.
Residents and commuters in West Feliciana Parish can now benefit from the improved bridge, which is expected to serve the community reliably for many years to come.
