Jacksonville, FL – According to the court documents, the 32-year-old wife, later identified as AshIey, was found guilty of mansIaughter after she killed her much older husband four years ago. The woman claimed self-defense after shooting the 58-year-old man, Duog, to death. During the trial, the defendant’s lawyer reportedly argued that her husband was a very disturbed man and at one instance, he fired a handgun into the ceiling of their kitchen on an occasion to stop his wife from talking. The defence attorney also claimed that the victim threw a loaded gun at his wife and also punched their dog in the face so hard that he knocked the dog unconscious.

But, prosecutors claim that the wife, who is now facing up to 30 years behind bars, ‘was early on in her pregnancy when she decided she wanted to be a single mother and did not want the father of this child to have any visitation.’ Prosecutor Suzane reportedly said: “And at the end, when there was no other option, she shoots him and kills him and claims self-defense. By all images, they looked like they were going to reconcile. The problem was: that’s not what she wanted. Although that’s what she was portraying, that’s not what she wanted.”

In Sept. 2020, the 32-year-old wife was getting ready to move to Maryland with her parent and the couple’s child. The victim arrived to help the woman with packing. Per reports, the husband also planned to move, but they would’ve remained separated. The defendant’s lawyer argued that the husband hit his wife with a moving box which started the altercation that turned fatal.

According to L&C, defense attorney NeiI reportedly said: “AshIey feared him. She left him a letter when she moved out three years prior to the homicide detailing how scared she was of him because of all of these acts. She feared for herself and for her unborn child. Three years before the shooting. She left him; he pursued. She rejected him; he would not take no for an answer.”
