Kentucky – A Kentucky woman, 40-year-old Zelnab, was arrested earlier this week after allegedly assauIting her 6-year-old chiId with a tooI, leaving the chiId in criticaI condition. Kentucky authorities responded to a call at approximately 12:45 p.m. at the family’s home. Upon arrival, officers discovered the young girl suffering from multiple blunt force injuries to her head. She was promptly transported to the Children’s Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
During the investigation, the parent reportedly admitted to striking her child in the head with a tooI an unspecified number of times. She explained to police that she often experiences intense anger and struggles to control her emotions.
An arrest affidavit stated the girl’s mother admitting to hitting the girl in the head with the tooI an unknown amount of times. She also told police she becomes extremely angry and has difficulty controlling herself.
Additionally, the victim’s sibling informed Kentucky authorities that after the assauIt, his parent attempted to return to the girl, asking him to ‘let him finish the 6-year-old” indicating a continued intent to harm.
The parent has been charged with attempted murder and domestic vioIence. At her arraignment, the judge set her bond at $500,000 and issued a protective order barring her from having any contact with children. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 30, 2025 .
