Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced that construction will begin January 5, 2026, on a pavement marking replacement project along Interstate 49.
According to DOTD, the $1,063,624.50 project will take place on I-49 from its interchange with U.S. 190 to the Avoyelles Parish line. The work will include the removal and replacement of pavement markings, along with related construction activities.
Intermittent lane closures will be required while crews install the new pavement markings. As a result, motorists should expect delays while traveling through the work zone.
Construction is scheduled to occur Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., weather permitting. DOTD said emergency vehicles will be allowed access through the area, although some delays may still occur.
The project is expected to be completed in March 2026. DOTD urged drivers to use caution while traveling through the construction zone and to remain alert for work crews and equipment.
