The investigation into the he defendant’s, 33-year-old N. CaIIaham, conduct began earlier this year after the victim, now 18 years old, came forward with allegations of abuse. Law enforcement officials stated that the woman, who was an eImentary schooI educator, allegedly engaged in groming behavior toward the boy starting when he was 14 years old.
The lnappropriate relationship reportedly continued for at least two years. Investigators have said that the woman used her role as an educator and supervisor of after-schooI activities to maintain close contact with the victim. When responding officers arrived, the victim shared his experience and described the abuse. He told South Carolina authorities that he felt traumatized by the reIationship but is determined to seek justice. The victim has spoken publicly, emphasizing that he was a child at the time of the abuse and expressing his resolve to fight for accountability. “All I really want the public to know is that that was a traumatic event. I’m here to fight and I’m not going to back down,” he said.
According to the South Carolina authorities, some of the alleged misconduct took place while the boy was attending schooI, leading to additional counts of criminal se-ual conduct with a minor and unlawfuI conduct toward a child.
Following the allegations, the defendant resigned from her teaching position in the School District. The school district has been cooperating with South Carolina authorities throughout the investigation. The case remains open as investigators continue to collect evidence and speak with witnesses.
