Shreveport, LA – A man was arrested early January 8 following a reported assault involving a knife in downtown Shreveport, according to the Shreveport Police Department.
Police said officers were dispatched just after 1 a.m. to the 400 block of Cotton Street after receiving a call that a man was chasing a woman while armed with a knife.
The victim told officers the suspect initially approached her asking for money. When she refused, the man allegedly produced a knife, threatened her, and began chasing her.
Officers located the suspect, identified as Joshua Hogue, still in possession of the knife and took him into custody without incident. Hogue was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault.
Investigators said footage from the department’s Real Time Crime Center cameras played a key role in confirming the events and assisting officers in verifying the suspect’s actions. Police noted that the technology helped officers respond quickly and safely to the incident.
The Shreveport Police Department stated it continues to use available tools and resources to enhance public safety and respond to violent crime in the community.
