Baltimore, MD – A Maryland man pleaded guilty to first-degree premeditated murder and now faces a maximum penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole in connection with last year’s incident, which left a 30-year-old man dead. The defendant, later identified as 28-year-old Tomas, will be sentenced in May for the 2024 brutal murder of 30-year-old ShaquiIIe, court records say.
The investigation process began in February last year after the 911 caller told the dispatcher that a man was seriously injured following an attack. The responding officers found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. First responders rushed the man to the hospital for treatment, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
During the investigation process, authorities in Maryland discovered that the victim and the defendant got into a heated argument while the victim was trying to visit his child. The child’s mom was the victim’s former partner and the defendant’s then-girlfriend.
Moments before the fatal stabbing, the victim reportedly attempted to see his child when he was confronted by the defendant. Both men got into an argument before the defendant punched the victim in the head several times, leaving him unconscious. The defendant then pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the neck area multiple times, causing fatal injuries.
Shortly after the fatal stabbing, the defendant fled the scene with his girlfriend and her child. When the defendant surrendered to authorities, he reportedly admitted to attacking the victim and punching hims several times in the head. The 28-year-old man will be sentenced in May, court records say.
