Washington – A Washington woman is behind bars and later charged with multiple charges, including second-degree murder in connection with her child’s death. Authorities in Washington say the woman beat her child to death because he didn’t do what he was supposed to. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the child, 14, suffered more than one thousand injuries and bruises all over his body after his parent, 29-year-old Denaia, beat him for nearly four hours. The woman didn’t have custody of the child. The boy, Demetrius, went to visit the mother several months before and the woman never returned the boy to his aunt who is his legal guardian.
The investigation process began at the end of last month after the 911 caller told the dispatcher about unresponsive boy at the location. During the investigation process, authorities in Washington learned the mother beat the child for nearly 4 hours until he stopped breathing. The woman then waited 5 minutes before calling 911 and requesting medical assistance.
According to the mother, she reportedly began angry and began beating the boy because he failed to do his responsibilities. The woman reportedly admitted to ‘going too far’ and lost count of how many times she hit the child with electrical cable. According to the mother, the victim reportedly told her several times that he is dizzy, but she kept hitting him because she thought the boy was lying.
“I just kept swinging the cable, I should have listened, but I kept saying you’re gonna stand up and do your chores and he was like mom I’m dizzy, I can’t do it, and I thought he was faking,’ the 29-year-old woman reportedly told investigators.
The parent also confessed to beating the boy before and even putting her hands around the child’s neck. The fatal beating occurred while the woman’s husband and their shared baby and two other children were present. The mother’s husband was reportedly aware of the beating, but did nothing to stop it. He reportedly told investigators that he didn’t intervene with the beatings because the child is not his and he felt it wasn’t his place. It remains unclear if the man will now face charges in connection with the child’s death.
