Baltimore, MD – Maryland woman was taken into custody and later charged with first-degree murder after she reportedly killed her own child. Authorities say the 37-year-old mom, later identified as Mackenzle, woke up on the fatal day only to then decide that ‘she wants to end everything’. The woman reportedly told investigators that she planned to kill both her children and her spouse. After killing her baby, the woman wanted to jump off a window only to change her mind. She then went downstairs and told her partner, who reportedly told her to call 911.
The fatal incident occurred over the weekend at the family’s home. The investigation process began after the 37-year-old mom called 911 and told the dispatcher that she killed her 3-month-old baby. First responders found the baby unresponsive and rushed the child to the hospital, where hospital staff pronounced her dead. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the mother took the child upstairs so she could give her a bath. Nearly half an hour later, the woman came back only to tell her husband what she did.
During an interview with investigators, the 37-year-old parent reportedly admitted to waking up with a plan to put an end to everything. The woman told investigators that she planned to kill her spouse and both her children. The woman also told investigators that she took the baby to the bathroom when she placed the child in a tub filled with water. The woman then admitted to holding the baby’s head under the water until ‘she knew the victim was dead’.
The 37-year-old parent also told investigators that she then climbed onto a window and wanted to jump out. Shortly after, the woman said that she then changed her mind and came downstairs. According to the police officials, the woman is scheduled to undergo a mental health evaluation for competency prior to her first court appearance. The medical examiner will determine the victim’s cause and manner of death, court records say.
The mother allegedly informed investigators that she intended to take her own life and the lives of her family members, including another child and her husband, on that day. After planning to jump from a second-story window following the infant’s death, she reportedly changed her mind. Instead, she walked downstairs and told her husband, John, that the baby was dead.
