Mother, ‘who could not take the stresses of life’, admitted that she began planning to kill her child one day earlier before she stabbed him to death; sentenced

Atlanta, GA – According to the court documents, the young mom, later identified as 23-year-old Azarla, was sentenced to life in prison for her role in connection with her child’s death. Prosecutors said the woman pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including: maIice murder, murder, aggravated assault, arson and other charges in connection with her son’s death last year. 

Prosecutors claim the parent reportedly killed her 5-year-old child, Jayvon, by stabbing the boy to death before setting her home on fire. The fatal incident occurred in Oct. last year. First responders arrived on scene regarding a fire. The responding crews reportedly entered the residence and made a disturbing discovery. They reportedly found the 5-year-old boy suffering from life-threatening injuries. The child was rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. 

Just 30 minutes after officers responded to the crime scene, they reportedly found a woman behind the home. The woman was taken into custody, where she told investigators that she lived there and the victim was her son. In a follow-up interview with investigators, the woman reportedly said that she is pregnant and she was about to be removed from her apartment. The woman, who told investigators that ‘she couldn’t take the stresses of life’, reportedly said that she started planning to take the life of her child one day before the fatal incident.

The woman reportedly bought a fIammable substance, which she used to start the home on fire. The woman the spread the substance on her bed, living room and all over the apartment. She then stabbed her child to death after setting the home on fire. During the sentencing, the woman reportedly showed no emotions or signs of remorse, court records say.
