New York – According to the police officials, on the morning of Tuesday, May 27, 2025, a tragic incident unfolded at a family home in New York when 1-month-old baby, Kiyana, was found dead. Initial reports suggested that the newborn had been fataIIy mauIed by the family’s pet. However, subsequent findings by the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner have refuted this claim, stating that the animaI bites occurred postmortem and were not the cause of death.

According to police sources, the baby’s mother called the authorities around 6:30 a.m., reporting that she and her partner awoke to find their pet biting the baby’s face as she lay between them in bed. Emergency responders arrived promptly, but the baby was pronounced dead at the scene. The mother informed officers that the animaI had jumped onto the bed and attacked the child while the family was asleep.

Despite the initial assumption of a fatal animaI attack, the medical examiner’s office clarified that the injuries inflicted by the pet occurred after the baby’s death. The exact cause and manner of death remain undetermined, pending further study and a comprehensive pediatric workup.

The New York Police Department has launched an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death. As of now, no arrests have been made, and it is unclear whether the parents have been questioned in connection with the incident. Animal Control has taken custody of the animaI involved in the attack, placing it under a 10-day observation hold for rabies.

Neighbors expressed shock and sympathy upon learning of the incident. One resident noted that the building is full of friendly animaIs and was surprised by the tragic news. Another neighbor mentioned that the pet was often seen roaming the building without a leash.

As the investigation continues, New York authorities are working diligently to determine the exact cause of the childa’s death. The case remains open, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
