Kansas City, MO – According to the court documents, the 44-year-old woman, later identified as Anber, was sentenced to life behind bars without the possibility of parole after she killed 33-year-old AshIey and her unborn baby two years ago. Prosecutors say the woman pleaded guilty to kidnapping resulting in death and other charges on Tuesday and is now subject to a mandatory sentence of life in federal prison without parole.
According to the court documents, the 44-year-old defendant lured the woman from Arkansas only to kill her, remove her baby and claim the baby as her own. The defendant’s husband is also charged and is awaiting trial after he helped his wife even though he knew she killed the pregnant woman. The investigation process began in October 2022 after the 911 caller told the dispatcher about an unresponsive baby.
The responding officers made contact with the 44-year-old defendant who reportedly told them that she gave birth in the truck and the baby was not breathing. In a follow-up interview, she reportedly confessed that the baby was the victim’s child, who had died in utero as a result of her kidnapping. During the investigation process, authorities reportedly discovered that the defendant kidnapped the victim, which resulted in the death of her and her unborn baby.
The defendant reportedly contacted the victim on social media website and reportedly told her that she has a job offering and wanted to help her get a work-from-home position for a company based out of Arkansas. On the fatal day, the woman told the victim that she is taking her to meet someone to discuss her employment only to get her in a truck with her husband. Authorities say the defendant shot the pregnant woman to death before using a knife and removing her baby from her body.
