Louisiana – A two-vehicle crash in St. Tammany Parish on Monday afternoon claimed the life of a Washington state woman and sent several others to the hospital, Louisiana State Police Troop L reported.

The crash occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. on May 26, 2025, on LA Highway 437 near South Fitzmorris Road.

According to preliminary findings, a 2013 Nissan Altima was traveling northbound when it attempted to turn left onto South Fitzmorris Road. As the vehicle entered the southbound lane, it was struck on the passenger side by a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer traveling in the opposite direction.

The impact critically injured 53-year-old Marie Henry of Mukilteo, Washington, who was seated on the passenger side of the Nissan. Though properly restrained, Henry suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.

The driver of the Nissan and two other passengers, also properly restrained, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. All occupants of the Chevrolet Blazer were likewise wearing seatbelts and were transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

As standard procedure, toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and will be analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation.

Louisiana State Police reminded drivers to remain vigilant, avoid impaired or distracted driving, and ensure all vehicle occupants are properly restrained.

To report hazardous driving, LSP encourages motorists to call *LSP (*577) from their cellphones.
