Louisiana – A 66-year-old man from Port Allen was killed in a two-vehicle crash on LA 986 near Laplace Lane in West Baton Rouge Parish on the afternoon of July 31, according to Louisiana State Police Troop A.
Troopers responded to the scene shortly after 1:00 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2022 Ford delivery truck was traveling east on LA 986 and had slowed to turn left onto a private drive.
A 2017 Nissan Sentra, driven by the Port Allen man, was traveling behind the truck and failed to stop, colliding with the rear of the vehicle.
The driver of the Sentra was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford truck, who was properly restrained, was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Police urged drivers to avoid distractions, impairment, and fatigue, and to ensure all occupants are properly restrained, noting that simple safety measures can save lives.
