Shreveport, LA – As summer break approaches, Caddo Parish officials are introducing a new collaborative effort to provide safe, enriching activities for local youth and teens. For the first time, six parish agencies have joined forces to form the Caddo Parish Safe Summer Crime Prevention Coalition and launch the “Pull Up and Get Involved” initiative.
The coalition includes the Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department, Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, Juvenile Services, Project Celebration, Inc., and KTBS as the official media partner. Their unified goal is to offer a slate of programs throughout May, June, and July that keep youth active, off devices, and engaged in positive, community-based experiences.
Program objectives focus on reducing violent crime—particularly homicides—by prioritizing crime prevention over intervention. Activities will also aim to improve the overall quality of life for Caddo Parish youth.
Free or low-cost options include:
-
Be S.A.F.E. Summer Nights, designed to offer National Night Out-style gatherings
-
Recreational programs and sports clinics
-
Health and wellness activities
-
Nature education sessions
-
Crime prevention presentations
-
Arts and cultural programming
Officials encourage families across Caddo Parish to explore these opportunities and help youth “pull up and get involved” in a safe, supportive environment this summer.
