Shreveport, LA – The Caddo Parish Commission adopted the Parish of Caddo’s 2025 Annual Operating and Capital Improvement Budget during a special budget adoption meeting on December 3. The $142,893,633 budget addresses the Parish’s critical operational needs, capital improvement projects, support for Parish agencies, and investments in economic development and social programs.
Commission President John-Paul Young emphasized the significance of the annual budget, describing it as a key policy document guiding the Parish’s resource allocation and strategic goals. “The budget reflects the resources, strategies, and goals of the Parish in the delivery of public services to our citizens and is indicative of the Commission’s financial discipline to ensure that funds are available for current and future Parish needs,” Young stated.
The 2025 budget is balanced and positions the Parish to address its priorities. However, officials remain cautious about potential challenges, including:
– Local economic uncertainties
– Rising operational costs due to inflation
– A projected $4 million deficit in the Juvenile Justice budget
– Increased expenses at the Caddo Correctional Center
The budget reflects the Commission’s commitment to maintaining fiscal responsibility while addressing the Parish’s immediate and long-term needs.
