Shreveport, LA – Sheriff Henry Whitehorn, Sr. and the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office have issued a strong warning to residents about the dangers of celebratory gunfire as 2025 approaches.
Sheriff Whitehorn emphasized that while there are many ways to celebrate the New Year, discharging firearms into the air should not be among them.
“Please remember, those bullets don’t just disappear,” Sheriff Whitehorn stated. “What goes up must come down. Don’t risk taking someone’s life by carelessly shooting into the air.”
The Sheriff’s Office reminded the community that celebratory gunfire is not only hazardous but may also violate state laws and parish ordinances.
Residents who hear gunfire or witness suspicious activity are urged to call 911 or contact the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office directly at 318-675-2170. Authorities are encouraging everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly.
