Phoenix, ARIZONA – According to the court documents, the 28-year-old dad, later identified as Anthony, was tried and convicted on multiple charges, including first-degree murder in connection with his 6-year-old son’s death. The father, along side with the boy’s mom and grandma, reportedly forced the little boy, Deshan, to sit in a cIoset for more than 15 hours every day. The little boy weighed nearly 19 lbs when he died four years ago. The medical examiner told authorities that the boy was starved to death.
Prosecutors claim the parents reportedly forced the victim and the victim’s older sibling to sit in a closet all day because they ‘stole food when the parents slept’. The parents’ two other children, 2 and 4, were reportedly treated like normal kids, prosecutors said.
The boy’s mom, EIizabeth, was also convicted on multiple charges and sentenced her to life in prison without the possibility of parole. During the trial, prosecutors said the medical examiner reportedly revealed that the boy was starved to death. Prosecutors also said that the boy’s 54-year-old grandma, later identified as Anne, will be tried later this year.
When authorities began their investigation 4 years ago, the parents reportedly told them that their son was suffering from a chronic medical condition and this is why he was so skinny when they found him. But, during the investigation process, the boy’s parents reportedly admitted to locking the boy in a cIoset and not giving him food. They didn’t give the boy food ‘because the boy reportedly sneak out of bed at night and stole food’.
