by Erica Knowles

Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced a significant traffic change in Jeff Davis Parish, with the closure of Exit 44 to Kinder on Interstate 10 Westbound at US 165.

This closure is set to begin on Monday, May 5, and will remain in place until February 2026.

As part of the traffic shift, vehicles traveling westbound on I-10 will be rerouted from the existing bridge to a newly constructed inside bridge.

This move is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements in the area.

DOTD is advising motorists to follow the designated detour routes to avoid disruptions:

  • Drivers can detour using LA 101, traveling north to US 165.

  • Alternatively, travelers can take LA 101 south to US 90, then west to US 165.

The department encourages all drivers to plan ahead and follow posted signs to ensure a safe and efficient trip during this extended closure.
