Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that construction on the LA 30 roundabout project is moving forward, with visible progress at key locations in Ascension Parish.
Crews are currently focused on the roundabout at St. Landry Avenue and Robert Wilson Drive, where drainage crossings are being finalized. Following the completion of this work, demolition of the original section of LA 30—recently bypassed by rerouted traffic—will begin.
This phase sets the stage for the next major milestone: the construction of two new roundabouts at the I-10 interchange. According to DOTD, key elements at the St. Landry and Robert Wilson site had to be finished before breaking ground at the interstate location.
Earlier in the project, crews encountered conflicts with underground utilities that required additional time and coordination. However, DOTD officials stated that similar issues are not expected during work on the I-10 roundabouts, as that segment does not involve deep excavation or trenching.
Despite the early utility challenges, the overall timeline remains intact. DOTD confirmed that the project is still on track for completion by mid-2026.
