Shreveport, LA. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced that construction will begin Thursday, Sept. 18, on a $3.8 million project covering a 2.457-mile section of La. 178.

The work area stretches from the west junction of La. 182 to the east junction of La. 182.

The project will include clearing and grubbing, installation of drainage structures, milling asphalt concrete, pavement patching, lime treatment, in-place cement treated subgrade and base, asphalt paving, and related improvements.

Construction is scheduled to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., weather permitting. During work hours, traffic will be reduced to one lane with unpaved surfacing, and a pilot vehicle will assist with traffic flow.

Drivers may experience minor delays. Emergency vehicles will be allowed access but could encounter slower travel times.

DOTD estimates the project will be completed in February 2026. Officials reminded motorists to use caution in the construction zone and to watch for crews and equipment.
