FUMC in downtown Baton Rouge celebrated the completion of a $5 million renovation

LOUISIANA – According to the statement, the First United Methodist Church celebrated its renovations on Sunday, Sept. 26.

Officials say that the renovations were originally completed in March 2020 but the COVID-19 pandemic postponed celebrations.

And again, in 2021 the celebrations were once again postponed due to Hurricane Ida.

A new mahogany and gold leaf cross, Americans with Disabilities Act compliance improvements and a new pipe organ are among some of the newest renovations.

This story will be updated as new information become available.
